BLAIR HARVEY APPOINTED NEW GOLF SALES MEMBERSHIP DIRECTOR AT TURNBERRY

Trump Turnberry has appointed Blair Harvey as its new Golf Sales Membership Director, with the PGA professional from Inverclyde looking to build on the success of the resort’s current membership structure.

Harvey brings a wealth of experience from the business world, having worked for Prosports International Qatar in the Middle East where he spent five years as country manager. He successfully helped grow the business to become the largest sports retailer, distributor and events partner in the country.

As well as a business background, Harvey is an avid golfer and a professional player. Starting the game as a 12-year-old at Gourock Golf Club in his hometown - where he remains a member - he turned pro in 2012 and, prior to moving to Qatar, worked as head teaching professional for the Scottish Golf Academy and as assistant professional at Glasgow Golf Club.

Harvey, who will oversee and help drive Turnberry’s membership growth with a number of exciting initiatives, said: “It is a great time to be joining Turnberry and I can’t wait to start working with the fantastic team already in place.

“I have an unrivalled determination to deliver on all business aspects to a world-class standard and am looking forward to getting started at such an iconic venue and golf course.

“A boom in golf in recent years means participation numbers are healthier than ever with the game subsequently thriving. It feels like the perfect time to be joining Turnberry as we look to build on our membership success.”

Jane Frazer, Director of Sales & Marketing at Turnberry, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Blair Harvey. He brings a wealth of experience in both professional golf and business and will be a great addition to the team.”

Located on the enchanting Ayrshire coast with more than 115 years of heritage and history, Trump Turnberry is an iconic destination known throughout the golfing world. Its famous Ailsa course has hosted the Open Championship on four occasions (1977, 1986, 1994 and 2009) and is regarded as one of the world’s best.

Meanwhile, the neighbouring King Robert the Bruce course is also one of Scotland’s most popular layouts and has in recent years been completely renovated by highly respected designer Martin Ebert. To complete the trio, the nine-hole Arran serves as the perfect complement and provides an ideal practice round for the tougher tests that await elsewhere.

A distinctive landmark on the coastline, Trump Turnberry offers a number of outdoor and country pursuits where visitors can enjoy activities such as horse riding, clay-pigeon shooting, archery, falconry and even off-road driving. It is the perfect place to unwind, with far-reaching views out to the Isle of Arran, Ailsa Craig and Mull of Kintyre. Steeped in history, the surrounding area offers much to explore – from castles to distilleries and beaches to the birthplace of poet Robert Burns. All of this lies just an hour’s drive from Glasgow International Airport and two hours from Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh.

Turnberry delivers an array of distinctive dining experiences, including the signature restaurant 1906, the elegant Grand Tea Lounge & Bar and the Duel in the Sun restaurant. The resort has a well-established reputation for top-class events, specialising in personalised experiences.
