PICCIOLO OPENS IN MAY 2025 UNDER THE HILTON PORTFOLIO

Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & SPA, situated in the picturesque climes of Eastern Sicily, will open in May having joined the Hilton portfolio as part of the Curio Collection by Hilton brand following extensive renovations.

Opening after a refurbishment of the hospitality and spa facilities, Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & SPA, Curio Collection by Hilton has 100 ensuite rooms set in an historic manor, many offering magnificent views of Etna and nearby vineyards.

Golfers and guests can enjoy waking up to a view of Etna’s volcanic peak as they draw open the curtains in the morning, while also enjoying the first-class facilities across the resort.

The clubhouse features six rooms and a welcoming outdoor terrace while the Il Palmento restaurant is the perfect spot for lunch with à la carte Sicilian specialities such as Pasta alla Norma and Caponata.

Additionally, La Ghiandaia is a large open-plan restaurant with outdoor seating area, offering both Italian and continental breakfast in the mornings and culinary delights of the area for dinner, reinterpreted with a contemporary flair by the skilled hands of the chefs and paired with a selection of Etna wines from the cellar.

Among the hotel features, guests will find two outdoor pools, complete with sun loungers and snugs, and a bar for snacks or a sunset aperitif. For indoor relaxation, the spa centre offers a heated pool with hydromassage, sauna and steam room. The essence of Mount Etna and the citrus fruits of Sicily are key elements for guests to experience through Spa offerings, incorporated into treatments and massages.

Built on the breathtaking landscape of a volcano, the venue’s par-72 golf course is the oldest on the island of Sicily and was designed by respected architect Luigi Rota Caremoli in 1989. The layout – characterised by elevated tee shots, challenging tight fairways and stunning panoramic views – winds its way around the ancient rural dwelling that now houses the clubhouse.

Andrea and Francesco Scrofani, owners at Picciolo Etna Golf Resort & SPA, said: “Picciolo is proud to offer guests a truly special experience with first-class facilities, exceptional golf, local gastronomic delights and cultural excursions against the backdrop of Mount Etna. This is an exciting time for the resort following the extensive refurbishment and we are excited to partner with the Curio Collection by Hilton brand to bring a fresh, new offering to our guests.”

Mount Etna has created the perfect climate for the neighbouring vineyards, with the mountain’s fertile soils providing the ideal base for delicious wines including CDO excellences from Etna Rosso and Bianco to traditional method Spumante.

Culturally, while very much Italian, the influence of the Greeks dating to 734BC and then the Moors is still very much in evidence.

In the surrounding area, film and TV buffs can also enjoy taking steps through the iconic film locations with tours through the same dramatic landscapes used in award winning TV programs such as White Lotus and classic films including the Godfather collection.

Picciolo Etna Golf Resort and SPA, Curio Collection by Hilton is now part of Hilton Honors®, the award-winning guest loyalty program for Hilton’s 24 world-class brands. Hilton Honors members who book directly through preferred Hilton channels have access to instant benefits, including a flexible payment slider that allows members to choose nearly any combination of Points and money to book a stay, an exclusive member discount that can’t be found anywhere else and free standard WiFi.
