Classic country retreats await at West Sussex destination

Cowdray is delighted to announce a variety of stay-and-play options, combining its recently elevated championship golf experience with a great English countryside retreat.
Nestled in West Sussex among the rolling hills of the South Downs, Cowdray’s golf facilities have never held greater appeal following a year which has seen more than £1million invested in upgrades. A popular destination for those wishing to enjoy a rural break, the 16,000-acre Estate is home to a wide range of accommodation options that have long been paired with premium country pursuits and world-class sport.
Offering something for all party sizes, the accommodation comprises dormy-style lodge rooms at the golf club, luxury stand-alone cottages and attached cottages at Benbow Pond.
A one-night, one-round experience at the golf lodges, including breakfast, starts from £215 for two people, based on sharing a twin or double room.
The Luxury Cottages – where amenities can include private hot tubs, wood burners, gardens and barbecues – sleep between four and eight people and are available from £350 per night with a minimum two-night stay. A two-night, two-round stay based on four people sharing starts from £265 per person.
Elsewhere, the smaller Benbow Cottages – located by Benbow Pond – sleep up to four people and cost from £165 per night with a minimum two-night stay. A two-night, two-round package based on four people sharing begins at £173 per person.
All cottage guests at Cowdray also receive a welcome hamper of provisions from the award-winning Cowdray Farm Shop & Café. Guests at Cowdray can also enjoy unlimited access of the new Par 3 Course – a re-imagined creation of five new short holes with USGA specification greens and greenside bunkers, each reflecting a similar green complex on the main course – for an additional £15 per person.
As well as golf, guests at Cowdray can experience a range of other premium country pursuits including clay-pigeon shooting, fishing, walking, cycling, riding, and polo.

Cowdray’s 18-hole course recently re-opened following a significant investment and improvement project by Swan Golf Designs.
The most notable changes are to the bunkering, with all having been reconstructed, reshaped and integrated into the downland landscape through the use of native grass borders. A new ninth tee has been constructed and new sensitive EcoPath recycled rubber pathways have been installed throughout.
Elsewhere, Swan Golf Designs created a new ‘heart of the course’ by restoring the famed double green for holes seven and 14, created a new seating area at the halfway hut and have overseen landscape management throughout the course.
In keeping with a venue within the South Downs National Park, the landscape management work included the introduction of more native grassland areas and the removal of non-indigenous species to highlight historic oaks and traditional downland specimens.
