Golf travel operators are being invited to book time with one of Europe’s fastest growing golf destinations when the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) arrives in Lisbon from October 14-17.
Piemonte, which is home to more than 50 golf courses, will be represented in Portugal’s capital by Torino Golf Destination, Lago Maggiore Golf Destination and Gavi Golf Experience.
Much of Piemonte – Italy’s largest mainland region, spanning from the foot of the Alps in the north to vineyard-clad hills in the south - boasts perfect golfing terrain.
Royal Park I Roveri, which is widely regarded as one of the best courses in Europe, is part of Torino Golf Destination, as are Golf Club Biella, Golf Club Margara and Golf Club Torino.
Meanwhile, Lake Maggiore Golf destination boasts the highly rated Golf Club Castelconturbia, as well as Bogogno Golf Resort and Des Iles Borromées.
Gavi Golf Experience is a collaboration of both Golf Club Colline del Gavi and the 36-hole Villa Carolina resort in the idyllic landscape of the Monferrato hills.
The combination of world-class layouts and a long list of ‘hidden gems’ means visitors can enjoy a wide variety of different courses in what has become known as Italy’s “Home of Golf”.
Piemonte will be in attendance at IGTM, but its three desks are expected to be busy - especially given that the region has an array of activities on offer besides great golf.
Torino, the capital of Piemonte, stands on the edge of the Po Plain, in the shadow of the Alps. The city of art and culture – a feast of museums, contemporary art events, galleries, and many miles of Baroque architecture – is a good base from which to explore.
Food and drink also play an important role in life in the region, with the hills of southern Piemonte producing many of the best Italian wines, whilst the area has a great number of Michelin-star restaurants.
Piemonte is well served with regular flights to Torino, Milan and Genoa. The close proximity of Milan and the French Riviera also make the region accessible from all directions through a well-connected network of highways and railroads.
