Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, host of the 2023 Ryder Cup, has become the latest venue to partner with GPS app Pin Vision.
The only GPS app that offers precise measurements to the flag from anywhere on the golf course, Pin Vision uses pin position information provided by greenkeeping staff to ensure that distances are always up to date.
The eyes of the golfing world were on Marco Simone’s course – designed by Jim Fazio and revitalised by Tom Fazio II – in September 2023 when the iconic Ryder Cup came to Rome. Team Europe blew away American opposition to win 16 1⁄2 – 11 1⁄2, with standout performances from Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.
Now, the acclaimed venue will benefit from Pin Vision’s full course management services, while golfers can utilise the Pin Vision app on their phone or smart watch to check the current pin position from anywhere on the course. Pin Vision also provides physical pin position sheets for players who prefer not to use the app.
Marco Aquilino, general manager at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, said: “We are always looking for new ways to improve the experience for our members and guests, which is why we have decided to join the growing list of clubs in Italy that have partnered with Pin Vision.
“We are confident that Pin Vision will change the way golfers play our course, and perhaps even help them hit shots as accurately as a Ryder Cup star.”
Luigi Goria, co-founder and COO of Pin Vision, said: “We take great pride in the incredible golf courses we provide our services to across Italy and abroad, and it’s an honour to welcome Marco Simone Golf Club the year after the venue staged one of sport’s greatest events.
“We look forward helping the venue, its members and guests get even more out of this stunning course.”
In 2024, Pin Vision announced ambitious plans to expand from its native Italy – where it is partnered with over 50 venues - to the UK.
