Palmares Ocean Living & Golf has been hailed as one of Portugal’s best golf venues after its Praia and Lagos nine-hole loops were recognised in the recent Top 60 Courses in Portugal rankings.
Originally designed by Frank Pennink before a redesign at the hands of Robert Trent Jones Jnr, Palmares’ three loops of nine holes have long been regarded among Portugal’s best, with its place in the Top 100 Golf Courses updated list of the ‘Top 60 Courses in Portugal’ showing just that.
Its Praia and Lagos loops have now risen to number three in the course ranking, up two places from last year. The climb to third represents an emphatic rise for Palmares after entering the rankings in 31st back in 2008, prior to the Trent Jones Jnr redesign.
Billed as the golfing ‘jewel in the crown of the Algarve’, Palmares is situated along the Atlantic coast and combines a selection of links-styled and parkland-styled holes with golfers treated to stunning views along the holes that run along the shoreline.
Marco Andrade, operations and golf director at Palmares Ocean Living & Golf, said: “Since our nine-hole loops were redesigned 13 years ago, we have worked hard to make sure our reputation continues to grow, and we are proud to see that our course has never been more well-regarded than it is now.
“To be recognised with such a high placement in respected lists such as this one is a fitting reward for the work everyone at the resort puts in to keep the course in pristine condition and make sure the player’s experience continues to improve.”
Owned and operated by Kronos Homes, Palmares offers a range of accommodation options for golfers looking to enjoy regular access to its fairways. Signature apartments with stunning views are available for purchase, while plots for bespoke properties are also an option.
