Foxhills Club & Resort has proved that it is fit for success after its facilities and the work of its gym and spa team were recognised with an award double at the National Fitness Awards 2022.
The picturesque 400-acre Surrey country estate beat off stiff competition to claim the coveted ‘Best Hotel & Spa Facility of the Year’ title, with an expert judging panel - which included top personal trainer Mike Hind MBE and award-winning gym owner Steve Johnson - recognising the facilities available to guests and members.
And in the evening’s showcase category, ‘National Gym of the Year’, Foxhills scooped a second award – testament to the work of the gym team and the significant investment the resort has made in its facilities, including a new £7 million family leisure building, The Pavilion.
Hosted at the Athena events venue in Leicester, the awards, organised by Script Events and leading industry publication Workout, with support from headline sponsor ServiceSport, are now in their 12th year and recognise excellence and achievement of both those working in the sector and the state-of-the-art facilities on offer across the nation.
Located in Ottershaw, Foxhills is home to a spacious gym fully equipped with the latest Technogym cardio and resistance machines, five swimming pools, a dedicated Yoga Cabin and a luxury HealthSpa.
Offering more than 200 timetabled activities each week for all ages to enjoy, the fitness and activities team work tirelessly to motivate, inspire and reward members in pursuit of their health and wellbeing goals.
The team runs regular gym challenges for members as well as taking part in charity fundraisers – on World Mental Health Day, six members of the gym and personal training team raised more than £1,500 for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) after completing 10 back-to-back classes in one day.
Heather Marriott, fitness and activities manager at Foxhills, said: “It’s a real honour to be recognised in the UK’s top industry awards and win the showpiece prize for the very first time. I’m incredibly proud of our fitness and spa teams who continue to go above and beyond on a daily basis, giving our members everything they need and more to exceed their wellbeing goals.
“Our talented and dedicated personal trainers and spa therapists, combined with our exceptional facilities, makes Foxhills a very special place to be and to be acknowledged by experts from across the industry is a fantastic achievement.”
The double success completes at hat trick of awards for Foxhills in recent weeks. Earlier in November, Foxhills was named ‘Best for Families’ at the Condé Nast Johansens Awards for Excellence 2023.
Alongside its gym and spa facilities, Foxhills has two 18-hole championship golf courses and a par-three nine-hole course, 11 tennis courts, three unique restaurants and a hotel with 66 bedrooms.
