THE QHOTELS COLLECTION ROUNDS OFF MAJOR SUMMER OF ELITE GOLF EVENTS

Five professional tournaments, three holes-in-one, two former US Open champions and a course record - it has been a packed summer of professional golf for The QHotels Collection.

Including the first Asian Tour event to take place outside of Asia, the PGA Professional Championship and a triple-header of PGA EuroPro Tour meetings, there has been a total of five prestigious tournaments held since June across the seven venues of the UK’s largest golf resort operator.

Beginning with the International Series England – won by Zimbabwean Scott Vincent - the Asian Tour event saw more than 150 players from across the globe descend on Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, including former US Open champions Michael Campbell and Graeme McDowell.

Shiv Kapur, a veteran of the DP World Tour before joining the Asian Tour, said: “I was very impressed. The layout was a perfect blend of parkland links, where the greens are quite sloping and undulating and they all made for a nice test and overall, just visually, it was really stunning.”

Next up at Slaley Hall was the PGA Professional Championship, which saw 22 eagles and 987 birdies from the field as Matthew Cort claimed victory on the Hunting Course to earn his place in the 2022 Great Britain & Ireland PGA Cup team.

Elsewhere within the collection, a triple header of PGA EuroPro Tour events saw more than 700 rounds of professional - and highly competitive - golf played with events at The Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort and Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort before returning to Slaley Hall in late July.

Three holes-in-one followed, from Leon Fricker, Bailey Gill and Christopher Currie, before the course record fell at Belton Woods courtesy of a first-round 62 by Greg Dalziel as players from the EuroPro Tour showed their quality in a packed field that also provided two debut winners.

Keith Pickard, The QHotels Collection’s director of golf, spa and leisure, said: “It has been a fantastic summer for The QHotels Collection, with a run of prestigious golfing events that have tested the courses and proven the quality of various resorts across the portfolio.

“I would like to thank the resort teams across the collection for their hard work throughout the year so far - they have made each and every event go off without a hitch and helped to provide a host of memorable moments that help us stand out as a provider of elite golf venues.”

Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort and The Telford Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort are two of seven top golf resorts in England and Scotland in The QHotels Collection alongside Belton Woods Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, in Grantham, Lincolnshire; Dunston Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, in Norwich; Oulton Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, Leeds; DoubleTree by Hilton Forest Pines Spa & Golf Resort, in Brigg; and DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa & Golf Resort.
