LONDON GOLF CLUB CAPITALISES ON AZALEA PARTNERSHIP

London Golf Club has tasked Azalea with maximising the European Tour spotlight.

The stunning 36-hole venue, which boasts two supreme Jack Nicklaus-designed courses – The Heritage and The International – will host the English Open’s return to the European Tour schedule this year (August 12-15) as the elite golfers face a stern examination of their abilities.

Having hosted the European Open (2008 and 2009) and the Volvo World Match Play (2014), London Golf Club became the first European Tour Destination in 2010 and is no stranger to staging the top events in golf. It also hosted two editions of the Staysure Seniors PGA Championship in 2018 and 2019 and has established itself as one of the UK’s leading new golf venues since its opening in 1994.

Both courses bear the hallmarks of Nicklaus’ trademark shrewd course design with risk-reward holes always such a prominent feature. Naturally, there is plenty of water to avoid, some astute bunker placement and challenging greens on both layouts.

Just 20 miles from the capital and with 700 acres of magnificent Kent countryside providing the memorable landscapes, it will represent the fourth and final event of the UK Swing this summer.

London Golf Club’s chief executive, Stephen Follett, said: “It’s an important year for us to cement our place among the UK’s top courses and Azalea’s expertise and knowledge of the golf industry and media will certainly help us achieve that.”

Azalea director, Andy Barwell, said: “London Golf Club has some ambitious future plans and it’s exciting for us to be involved with a club which has forged such a strong reputation and brand in a relatively short time.”
