Andrew Oldcorn, a former champion of the European Tour’s flagship event, is set for more power to his elbow after discovering the benefits of Golfer’s CBD.
The 60-year-old Scot, who at the age of 41 became the oldest winner at the time to claim the famous PGA Championship title at Wentworth in 2001, continues to defy the physical challenges of nearly four decades as a touring professional. And he is preparing to resume his career on the European Legends Tour again this season after the 2020 schedule was cancelled because of the pandemic.
Oldcorn followed the lead of his friend and Solheim Cup captain, Catriona Matthew in turning to Golfer’s CBD and has already noticed the benefits within the first few weeks, which gives renewed hope to all veteran amateurs keen to extend their own playing days.
He explained: “When you get to 60 years old and the strain on my body of playing professional golf for 40 years, it’s inevitable I am going to have a few underlying physical issues!
“I have a range of minor and chronic ailments to deal with, but in a short space of time using Golfer’s CBD, I have noticed some real improvements.
“One of those conditions for the past couple of years has been a bout of ‘golfer’s elbow’. Since I started using Golfer’s CBD I haven’t encountered any of the residual pain or grumbling from my elbow after I have practiced or played.
“I would now expect to see an improvement in the various other minor issues that I have to manage all the time.
“I know Catriona quite well and saw she had started using it so thought ‘that’s something I really must try’.
“Since using it, my anxiety levels have definitely decreased and my sleep has also improved, on the whole.”
CBD is short for cannabidiol, one of 113 cannabinoids identified by scientific research into the cannabis plant. The health benefits are a result of the gold standard extract used in Golfer's CBD products. In addition to cannabidiol, their broad spectrum CBD oil contains other beneficial cannabinoids, phytonutrients, flavonoids and terpenes. These compounds are known to reduce the risk of cancer, boost the immune system, fight disease and increase overall wellness.
The combined benefits on and off the golf course makes Golfer's CBD the perfect supplement for players who want to feel healthy and produce their best golf.
Oldcorn enjoyed illustrious career achievements as he claimed three European Tour victories and added two more titles after joining the Seniors Tour at the age of 50. But he was frank enough to admit that despite all of his success, he has often struggled with anxiety on and off the course and firmly believes Golfer’s CBD will also help in that respect.
He said: “It’s no secret among my peers that I have, on occasion, shown a propensity to let things get to me all too easily on the course in tournaments. It still happens after all these years of trying to remedy it.
“I have definitely become distracted and lost concentration and composure at times.
“Some players thrive on their emotions and use it as a catalyst to do better and I would say I fall into that category – much like Tyrell Hatton of today’s new breed.
“But it’s how you manage this and not allow it to become destructive in pressure situations. That doesn’t matter if you are trying to win a professional tournament or you’re playing in the monthly medal. It’s all relative to the individual.”
In May of this year, it will be 20 years since he recorded his unforgettable win at Wentworth as he held off the challenges of Angel Cabrera, Nick Faldo and the elite of European golf to take the coveted title.
And as he attempts to turn back the clock on his physical ailments, Oldcorn also revealed he has allowed himself a look back on his greatest win for some extra motivation for the coming season on the Legends Tour.
He said: “It’s my proudest moment in my long career and I wanted to remind myself of how I handled the pressure that day to give myself a bit of extra inspiration. I can’t actually believe it was 20 years ago – the time has absolutely flown by.
“But hopefully, with the help of Golfer’s CBD, there may still be a few more highlights to come as the fat lady hasn’t quite sung for me yet!”
