HowDidiDo, Europe’s largest online golf community, has reaffirmed its position as one of the leading apps in the industry after reporting a 61 per cent year-on-year increase and a staggering 231k downloads in the last 12 months amidst the UK’s golf boom.
With regular enhancements and an intuitive interface, the free-to-download app has seen its numbers grow to a record amount, reaching nearly 612k total downloads on iOS and Android devices.
The app has revolutionised the visibility and control its users have over their handicaps, completely transforming and modernising the way golfers can input their scores and keep track of their performance.
Its 301k active monthly users were able to enjoy some exciting new features this summer which took the app to new heights. Its innovative new Mobile Score Input (MSi) function being the highlight, allowing all golf club members across Great Britain and Ireland to enter competition scores safely and quickly through their own mobile device. A great video showing how to use the MSi function can be viewed here.
Another successful new feature has been the launch of the HowDidiDo Academy with experienced Tour professional Sophie Walker. The academy provides all members with weekly tutorials, tips and drills – offering them free insightful guidance on every aspect of their game. An example video of Walker’s best tips for holing more putts can be viewed here.
The app has also been developed and is ready for the new World Handicap System (WHS) – displaying course rating, slope rating, course and playing handicaps. In England, HowDidiDo now displays the new Handicap Index and playing record, and the company is working towards a solution to have the same data available for Scotland, Wales and Ireland very soon.
Another feature which sets the app apart from its competitors is the social media-esque ‘HowDidiDo Timeline’ featuring the latest stories from around the world from Global Golf Post, golf equipment reviews from number-one golf review site Golfalot and regular exclusive giveaways from some of golf’s leading brands, including Titleist, FootJoy, Callaway, Adidas, Shot Scope and many more.
The platform’s sponsored competitions also continued despite the Covid pandemic, giving even more benefits to golfers and club members. The ‘How Do We Beat It’ competition had nearly 5k entries and raised £35k for Prostate Cancer UK, while the Titleist Order of Merit has had nearly 36k entries so far.
Barry Dyett, Chairman of HowDidiDo Media, said: “The growth in the take-up of the HowDidiDo app has been phenomenal. The team at HowDidiDo Media is very grateful for the trust shown in us by the club golfing community in Great Britain and Ireland. We have been struck by the feedback from golfers and clubs alike highlighting the ease of use of the app and the evolution of the product functionality. We genuinely believe that constant development and investment in the product is the key to its success.
“As development continues, we at HowDidiDo Media expect to maintain our position as the industry leader in this vital area for the UK golfing community. We thank the clubs that we represent, as well as the golfers who have signed up to the app and the website, for their continued support.”
The HowDidiDo system, part of the solution offered to golf clubs by Club Systems International software, holds data from more than 122 million rounds of golf, along with handicaps, results and scores from nearly a million golf club members.
HowDidiDo allows members to analyse their game and compare performance with other players at their club or across the entire HowDidiDo network and is rapidly becoming the largest online social golfing hub in the world, with new, engaging and exciting content for golfers to enjoy. It is also used for official CONGU and WHS handicap and competition results.
As Europe’s largest online community, HowDidiDo has more than 750,000 club golfers from 1,500-plus registered clubs using the website or mobile app regularly across the UK and Ireland.
