NEW HEAD CHEF APPOINTED AS BASINGSTOKE GOLF CLUB TRANSFORMATION TAKES SHAPE

Basingstoke Golf Club’s transformation has continued with the appointment of new head chef Jason Kearney and a new menu for members and guests.

Kearney will lead a culinary team in the state-of-the-art clubhouse – which opened in September 2024 – to serve classic dishes with everything produced in house, utilising quality local ingredients in a British/European style cuisine.

With more than 35 years of experience, including 25 as a head chef, Kearney brings a proven track record managing kitchens in first-class hospitality venues. His previous roles include stints at Abingdon’s Cosenors House Hotel, The ARK Conference & Events Centre in Basingstoke and The George Hotel in Wallingford.

As part of the new menu, breakfast will be served from 7:30am to noon each day and will incorporate cooked dishes as well as pastries. The lunch menu will feature modern classics alongside a British tapas section with a robust and ever-changing ‘Specials Board’, while a new Sunday lunch service will commence from June 22 and restaurant evenings will be available to book in the near future.

David Green, general manager at Basingstoke Golf Club, said: “Jason has all the qualities we were looking for in a head chef; his track record managing kitchens in the hospitality and events sectors is exceptional.

“We feel that we’ve created a menu with something for everyone, including plenty of classic and innovative options that reflect our heritage while making sure that members and guests with dietary requirements are catered for.”

Kearney said: “I’m delighted to be at Basingstoke Golf Club, a venue with a very bright future and the perfect facilities to provide a top-class dining service.”

Kearney’s appointment is the latest significant development at Basingstoke Golf Club, which became one of the UK’s most exciting emerging venues when it relocated to a new site in 2021 and built an acclaimed new 18-hole course.

The layout has since been joined by the modern clubhouse, with a golf academy, driving range and short-game practice area under construction. The full range of practice facilities are scheduled to open this autumn, with the full reopening of the club to be confirmed at a later date.

The venue recently unveiled new branding, including a new logo and colour palette to reflect the club’s long history and role in the Basingstoke area.
