MADEIRA TAKES TO THE INTERNATIONAL STAGE  TO RAISE GLOBAL PROFILE

Madeira has confirmed its attendance at two industry-defining events as it looks to further bolster its reputation as one of golf’s great all-round destinations in 2025.

With three world-class golf venues, magnificent scenery, renowned gastronomy and cultural experiences to suit all tastes, the Portuguese archipelago is ready to build on the huge success it achieved at last year’s World Golf Awards to further raise global awareness of its outstanding offering.

From May 19-21, delegates from the Madeira Promotion Bureau will travel to Gran Canaria to participate in the IAGTO European Convention (IEC) for the first time. Fast becoming one of the most important events in the global golf industry calendar, IEC is a chance for fully accredited IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators) members to connect and is sure to further boost the visibility and reputation of Madeira and its golf offering.

Representatives from the archipelago will also visit Cannes in France from October 20-23 to attend the 2025 International Golf Travel Market (IGTM). Regular attendees at the illustrious event, the promotion bureau will be joined by ten partners from the popular Madeira Golf Passport – including all three award-winning golf venues – to promote Madeira as one of the leading golf destinations in the world.

In addition, the delegation will be joined at IGTM by representatives from Ponta do Pargo Golf, the eagerly anticipated 18-hole course designed by six-times Major winner Sir Nick Faldo, which is set to open its doors in 2026.

The climax of Madeira’s ground-breaking year will come this autumn when the World Golf Awards return to the capital city of Funchal for the second consecutive year. As well as Madeira itself, the trio of acclaimed golf courses – the Cabell B. Robinson-designed Palheiro Golf, Robert Trent Jones Snr’s Clube de Golf Santo da Serra and Seve Ballesteros’ Porto Santo Golfe – will be hopeful of earning coveted accolades when the event takes place from November 12-13.

Eduardo Jesus, regional secretary of Economy, Tourism and Culture and president of the Madeira Promotion Bureau, said: “It was an honour to be named the World's Best Emerging Golf Destination at last year’s World Golf Awards, but now it’s time to use that success as a platform to spread awareness of our golf offering even further.

“We know that we belong on a global stage with other world-class golf destinations and these events provide endless opportunities to connect, share and engage with the industry. We’re very excited to attend IEC for the first time, return to IGTM and then embrace the challenge of topping last year’s unforgettable World Golf Awards.”

The best way to experience Madeira’s full golf offering is with the Madeira Golf Passport, which incorporates green fees at Palheiro Golf, Clube de Golf Santo da Serra and optionally Porto Santo Golfe - as well as transportation - at exceptional value.
