PULA GOLF RESORT CHAMPIONS RENEWABLE ENERGY FOR EARTH DAY
Pula Golf Resort is celebrating Earth Day 2025 by underlining a number of key projects and innovations interwoven with this year’s theme “Our Power, Our Planet”.
The Mallorca venue, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, has championed sustainability for three decades and the resort continues to lead as a pioneer in HRC (Regenerative Competitive Hotel) - setting a benchmark for quality, environmentally-driven tourism in the Balearic Islands.
In line with Earth Day’s call to triple clean electricity by 2030, Pula Golf Resort has taken decisive steps towards energy transformation:
Solar energy generated on-site through solar rooftop installations.
Green energy supplied by Alcanzia, a Spanish brand and industry leader.
Implementation of geothermal and aerothermal energy in the rooms of Pula’s historic hotel.
Charging points for electric vehicles.
Comprehensive use of LED lighting in all facilities.
Pula’s championship par-72 course, which was transformed by iconic Spanish golfer José María Olázabal in the mid-2000’s, is the centrepiece of what has become one of Europe’s most popular golf resorts. However, the venue also earns consistent acclaim for the S’Era de Pula restaurant – where many ingredients, as well as quality wine, are grown and farmed onsite.
Beyond this year’s Earth Day focus of regenerative energy, the resort’s integrated circular economy model deploys several other key initiatives to enhance both environmental health and guest experience:
Recycled water to irrigate the golf course.
An 11,000m² organic garden, home to ducks and chickens, supplies produce to the on-site restaurant.
Organic kitchen waste is used as feed, reducing food waste.
Biodegradable napkins, ecopacks for cleaning, and elimination of plastic packaging in the restaurant and golf course.
Surplus food is donated to local municipal programs, reinforcing community bonds.
Arnau Sala, general manager at Pula Golf Resort, said: “Sustainability is a way of life for Pula; that has been our ethos throughout our entire history and will continue to be vital for decades to come. Earth Day 2025 reminds us that clean energy is our shared responsibility and we are proud to play our part.”
