SEED SET TO REVOLUTIONISE GOLF WITH AI-DRIVEN ‘SYNCR’ SELF-ALIGNING BALL

An Ireland-based research team has unveiled a self-aligning AI golf ball that looks set to irreversibly change the trajectory of the sport.

Over a two-year research and development study carried out by Seed Golf, the burgeoning equipment brand created The SYNCR AI, which utilises advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and sensor technology to ‘self-align’ on the way to the hole.

Inspired by self-driving car technology and developed in collaboration with software engineers at South East Technological University (SETU), Ireland, the SYNCR golf ball features embedded sensors that collect real-time data, processed via cloud-based AI algorithms. This enables the ball to align itself immediately to the intended target, providing golfers with a unique performance advantage.

Through extensive testing, the SYNCR golf ball demonstrated significant improvements in accuracy and consistency, with a six per cent increase in fairways hit and an eight per cent increase in putts holed from ten feet, which improved to twelve per cent at six feet. The attached white paper details the research methodology, technological framework, and results of the study, providing insight into the next evolution of golf ball technology.

Dean Klatt, founder and CEO of Seed Golf, said: “We like to push the boundaries and innovate, but when we started this study we weren’t sure if what we were aiming for was even possible.

“Instead, by infusing technology inspired by self-driving cars and other AI products, we have developed something that gives golfers a proven advantage. There’s no question that this will be a gamechanger for the sport.”

Before breaking into AI, Seed Golf was best known for developing and selling a range of ‘traditional’ – perhaps better known from now on as ‘analogue’ - golf balls that match the best products in the market for performance despite costing significantly less.

The Ireland-based brand, which also manufactures tees and apparel among other products, has expanded significantly in 2025 with additional distribution channels in the US and Australia already announced.
