TERRAS DA COMPORTA SIGNS RISING PORTUGUESE STAR AS NEW AMBASSADOR
At the forefront of the global golf industry, Terras da Comporta is also leading the way in developing Portugal’s stars of the future after finalising an agreement for teenage starlet Inês Belchior to become the new ambassador for its two courses, The Dunas Course and The Torre Course.
Reigning Absolute National champion Belchior, who is just 17, is regarded as one of the best young amateur players in Europe and created history at the Lalla Meryam Cup last month when she became the first Portuguese to make the cut at a Ladies European Tour event.
“I am very excited to join Vanguard Properties (owners of Terras da Comporta), and to represent these two fantastic courses,” said Belchior. “Both Dunas and Torre are world-class projects, and it is a privilege to be able to associate myself with this commitment to excellence in golf.”
Belchior, who also added the Spanish Women’s Amateur Strokeplay Championship to her growing list of titles last October, is the second top Portuguese player to be signed by Vanguard Properties, with DP World Tour star Pedro Figueiredo having represented Portugal’s largest real estate developer in recent years.
Rodrigo Ulrich, director of golf at Terras da Comporta, said: “Inês is a player with enormous talent and ability and she is an excellent fit for Terras da Comporta and Vanguard Properties. Like us, she understands the importance of paying attention to the smallest details to achieve the finest results.
“We’re very proud to announce her as an ambassador and, together with Pedro, she reinforces our vision of excellence and commitment to quality to take our courses to the next level.”
Situated one hour south of Lisbon in a secluded setting on the edge of the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, The Dunas Course is golf architect David McLay-Kidd’s first golf design project in mainland Europe.
Opened in 2023, the par-71 layout confirmed its reputation as one of the world's ‘must-play’ golf venues after winning three of the top international accolades at last year’s World Golf Awards – including the prestigious honour of ‘World’s Best Golf Course’.
Terras da Comporta will open its second 18-hole championship course, The Torre Course, this summer. Designed by European Ryder Cup legend Sergio Garcia, the course will be the first major layout that the Spaniard has held overall design responsibility for and is being tipped to quickly become one of the new stars of European golf.
Terras da Comporta features two large developments: Torre, comprising 365 hectares of land and Dunas, which occupies around 1,011 hectares.
As well as two 18-hole golf courses, the luxury estate will boast a wide range of lifestyle and sporting facilities including tennis, padel, pickleball and horse riding. The development also includes an array of plots for hotels, tourist and residential condominiums.
