CHELSEA FOUNDATION SOCCER SCHOOL PROVES A HIT AT LA MANGA CLUB

Chelsea have made a flying start to the new Premier League season and this has been mirrored at Spain’s La Manga Club, with the club’s new Chelsea FC Foundation Soccer School having been hailed as a resounding success in its inaugural year.

Around 250 boys and girls from the UK and Europe flocked to the world-famous sporting resort in Murcia to take part in the academies this summer, with a great blend of ages from six to 16 represented.

Due to the success, an extended range of dates for the 2019 Chelsea soccer schools have now been finalised at La Manga Club next year from July 1-27 and from August 19-31, 2019.

Eduardo Ruiz, La Manga Club’s sports general manager, said: “The Chelsea Foundation academies are going really well and we’ve been delighted with the response that we’ve had.

“The quality of the coaching on offer is second to none and this has been reflected in the popularity of the academies. The number of children taking part has been growing every week and the opportunity to be associated with one of the top football clubs in the world is something that really appeals to our guests.

“The soccer schools really embrace what La Manga Club is all about – the chance to play sport to the best of your ability while having fun at the same time – and we can’t wait to welcome more up-and-coming footballers of all ages to the resort in 2019.”

The Chelsea FC Foundation soccer school offers youngsters the chance to train using the same methods the Chelsea Foundation employs around the world.

Open to boys and girls between the ages of six and 16, the school includes up to three hours’ daily training from the Foundation’s team of expert coaches, with all participants receiving an official Chelsea Foundation Nike training kit of a shirt, shorts and socks. Prices for the 2019 schools start from €295 (approx £260) per person for a week-long training programme.

Boasting extensive facilities including eight Fifa-approved grass pitches, the resort is a popular choice as a destination for domestic and international teams seeking a warm-weather football training break.

In addition, La Manga Club is the official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and offers unrivalled facilities as a sports and leisure destination including three 18-hole golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm Wellness Centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 15 bars and restaurants.
