Spanish venue ranked 17th in industry-leading list of ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe’
A pacesetter among modern golf resorts, La Hacienda Links Golf Resort is celebrating a new first after being named as the highest new entry in Golf Worldmagazine’s updated industry list of the ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in Continental Europe’.
The 36-hole resort, which sits in a spectacular coastal setting overlooking the Mediterranean with the Rock of Gibraltar as the backdrop, was included at no.17 in the prestigious poll, benefitting from the opening of the five-star Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol last spring.
Widely recognised for offering the most insightful and informed guide to the finest stay-and-play breaks in Europe, the magazine’s rating panel assessed each resort across four categories – course, accommodation, amenities and setting. La Hacienda scored highly in each, with the resort being singled out for having “a real touch of class” and earning special praise for its accommodation and setting, which were rated among the “best of the best.”
Delivering its verdict, the top 100 panel said: “A splash new entry in the top 20 for a resort that didn’t exist two years ago. The addition of the swish Fairmont hotel, alongside the Links and Heathland courses, gives Andalucia a fourth entry in the top 20, making it the golf resort capital of Europe.
“The Links is an especially appealing course, ranked in the inaugural World X Factor Top 100 list earlier this year. The Heathland is a solid no.2 and the beachfront hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Modern and luxurious, but with a real touch of class.”
Located in the Cadiz municipality of San Roque and in Spain’s iconic Costa del Sol region, La Hacienda has undertaken a major overhaul of its golf and lifestyle amenities in the last five years that has transformed it into one of Europe’s premier 36-hole golf resorts.

The accolade is the latest leading international honour to bestowed on La Hacienda Links Golf Resort in 2026 following a year of unprecedented success. Having been placed 94th in Golf World’s list of the ‘Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World’ and 16th in its list of the ‘Top 100 Luxe Resorts in Europe’, the venue was also rated 24th in National Club Golfer’s recent ranking of Europe’s top golf resorts, while its Links course was named 67th in Golf World’s inaugural list of the ‘World’s Top 100 X Factor Courses’.
